Congratulations Dan, You've got a really nice looking plane. First flight is one of the very best adventures we enjoy. Do fly safe, Larry McFarland 601HDS at www.macsmachine.com -----Original Message----- From: owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of txpilot Sent: Wednesday, October 20, 2010 10:27 PM Subject: Zenith701801-List: First Flight! --> <txpilot@consolidated.net> After nearly five years, I'm happy to say I completed my first flight in my CH701. The airplane performed flawlessly and it was one of the most exciting flights I've ever had. Much to my surprise, the airplane initially climbed like a homesick angel. While I tried to keep a climbout speed of 50 mph, I edged it up to 60 mph and was doing 1500 fpm! The Rotax 912ULS seems like a bulletproof engine. I also found out the landing gear is pretty stout and can take a good beating. Don't ask me how I know that. :D Thanks to all on this forum for all the advice. It is much appreciated. That is a very hard mount to make if your thinking of duplicating the factory mount. The clearances are very tight and the bending process is painful. I manufacture an exact copy of the Rotax mount at a much better price if you decide to buy rather than build.
