John, a good way to support the wings while fitting is to make stands out o f 2x4s.- One for the inboard and one for the outboard for each side.- L eave them a little on the short side and then use foam or pieces of cardboa rd to shim them up to the final height. - To get the placement of the slots,-I had the flapperons in place on the w ings.- I think I stuck a marker through the stud hole in the root plate o f the flapperon and drew an arc on the side of the fuse.- Next I rigged t he flapperons at their neutral postion and marked this as zero.- Using an electric level I then marked the up limit and down limit of the travel. - For cutting the slot I drilled out the upper and lower limits of the arc wi th a step drill being sure to leave a little extra room for the movement. - To cut the slot, I took a scrap piece of extruded "L" and made it into a sort of compass.- I drilled a hole to fit over the fuselage flapperon s tud and cut slots in the "L" at the forward and aft cut lines.- I then pu t my Olfa P-Cutter in the slots and used the "L" to guide the blade while i t scored the skin. - Hope this all makes sense. - Doug MacDonald CH-701 C-GBQX NW Ontario, Canada Flying Phase One --- On Fri, 11/5/10, JohnDRead@aol.com <JohnDRead@aol.com> wrote: Hello all; ------------Does anyone out there have dimensions f or the slots in- the fuselage sides of the CH701 for-clearance of the -flaperon connectors? Is there a good way to support the wings when test fitting to the fuselage. Thanks in advance for any help. - Regards, John =0A=0A
