    Subject: Static port locations... again
    From: John Marzulli <john.marzulli@gmail.com>
I know a few people have installed duel static ports behind the doors with good success. Has anyone with the duel static installation also used the Zenith suggested method of leaving the instrument open? Roger at Zenith was very insistent that they got very accurate results by just leaving the port open. Any thoughts? Thanks, John Marzulli http://MarzulliPhoto.net/ http://701Builder.blogspot.com/

John, I followed the Zenith recommendation and left the the instrument static port open behind the panel. I have a analog ASI and another in the Denon display. They both read exactly (as far as I can tell) the same airspeed. But the indicated airspeed from the instruments is about 8 mph above the actual speed when compared to my GPS. I've gotten used to it and it's not an issue. Maybe that's why Zenith likes open ports instead of real static ports, makes their airplanes go faster........ naaah that couldn't be it. LO&SLO (but actual speed) John ----- Original Message ----- From: Gordon To: zenith701801-list@matronics.com Sent: Friday, December 24, 2010 2:46 PM Subject: Re: Zenith701801-List: Static port locations... again John, I followed the Zenith recommendation and left the the instrument static port open behind the panel. I have left the ASI port open and compared to the GPS it shows about 3mph fast. I have gotten used to it so it is not a problem.
