At cruise it does 93-94 TAS down low and indicates 97 for a 3-4 mph error there. At approach speeds of 50 down to 35 mph IAS it's dead on, below 35 the error gets pretty big...at stall of 30 mph TAS/1000 MSL it indicates 22. An 8 mph error at 30 MPH. Bending the pitot tube down might help both the error at cruise and the error at low speed. I believe I'll try it Merry Christmas Joe ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 05:54:21 AM PST US From: "Robert N. Eli" Subject: Zenith701801-List: Wing completion sequence? Hey Guys (and Gals)...and Jon Croke, I have just completed my strut fittings, flaperon arm assemblies, and the wing is still upside down with wing skins on and the nose skin attached to the spar on the bottom side. Everything is clecoed except for the rear channel assemblies as per Jon Croke's DVD recommendation. I have looked at Jon's Wing assembly DVD from end-to-end. Jon removes the nose skin and nose ribs next, and turns the wing over and removes the upper wing skin and begins installation of the fuel tank. The photo assembly guide sequence has the wing turned over (top side up) and proceeds to finish the nose skin assembly, and then completes the wing tip and wing root skins. Jon doesn't seem to mention the reason for doing the fuel tank installation next, instead of completing the skins. My question is: Should I follow Jon's lead and do the fuel tank installation next, or stick with the photo assembly guide sequence and complete the skins? Merry Christmas Everyone! Eli" Subject: Zenith701801-List: Clarification - wing completion sequence? All, I was incorrect in stating that the wing tip and root skins are completed in the photo assembly guide prior to installing the fuel tank. Just the nose skin installation is completed before installing the tank in the photo assembly guide. The question still remains, does it work out better completing the nose skin installation next, or proceed to do the fuel tank as per Jon's DVD? From: "bryanekholm" If you install the fuel tanks before putting on the nose skin, it gives you a little more room to work on your tank installation without having to bend over that extra distance. I'm at the same point you are on my second wing and I have not done any work on the tanks yet for either wing. The first wing I went ahead and intalled the nose skin. It may work to tip the wing up on it's nose while installing the tanks if there is not enough room to work without bending over too much. Otherwise it's your choice. My wings will have separate tank cover skins so I've already riveted my top skin and nose skin to the frame.
