George ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 01:43:30 PM PST US Subject: Zenith701801-List: Gas storage vs problems From: Philip Smith Guys, What is your take on storage of 91 octane (no alchol) gas in the plane during winter layoffs of one month or so. At one juncture it was said to just top off with 100LL - I did and have about fifty / fifty mix of 91 octane (no alchol) and 100LL now. But at the next top off which fuel should I use considering that 100LL isn't the 1st choice - been doing the top off at five gallons at a time to keep the level about 1/2 (10 gal) in the tanks (CH - 701) with about 1hr flights in phase one testing. What do you recommend for a guy like me that could go up to a month - cold wx related - without flying. Am I paranoid - my 182 eats 87 octane auto gas without a hickcup after a long winters layoff - but all I can read about the Rotax especially the 912 ULS it is much more critical. Is the *addition of stabilizer a good choice* in your mind - I use regular "Stabil" in 91 octane gas for ALL my gas powered tools, duck boat motor and stabil in my golf cart and since invoking that regimen have had - 0, nadda, none - troubles with stale gas, carb gum up etc. Does this / will this / is this acceptable for the 91 octane in my 912 ULS powered 701???? Again, value your thoughts.
