Don't use a regular knife. Use an Olfa knife. I just cut mine and it cuts like butter compared to aluminun. It cuts through easily and then there is nothing to break off. Actually the paper is still holding it together.......Geoff -------- Dual controls. Dynon 180. Icom 210 Garmin 296. Becker transponder. Sigtronics intercom. Electric flaperons. Just a thought;: how about installing a "rudder centering spring" on each side of the - rudder cable only - system back behind the hell hole. I remember that the Piper PA 22 Tripacer had an aileron - rudder interconnect home.earthlink.net/~andy*222*0/.../sitebuilderfiles/sm_21_and_20.pdf - to coordinate the rudder with the aileron during control wheel movement. Seemed to work well and could be over-ridden if necessary in cross control flight. I would say that my system friction is not excessive - might be a little high because I really worked to get the nose strut to "fit tightly" in the bearings. WX here in Idaho really prevents daily testing - right now a mini-blizzard in progress. Hope for better WX at the end of the week. Anyone tried this approach - I could live with the "rudder issue / control feel" if necessary but it *is experimental* isn't it. About elevator. Installed the Zenith VG kit per instructions and have no problem in flare - I would say that it might be a little more sensitive at rotation speed as I have to be conscious about pitch attitude B4 I'm ready to fly - as I said I'm only seven hours and ten takeoffs and landings into the program so each flight is a new experience. BTW I did bend the elevator trailing edge to level B4 first flight per Roger at Zenith who also highly recommended the VG's. The trim seems OK for level flight in speed range of 85 to 95 with no problem trimming down to 75 - have the electric trim with Zenith design tab from late model kit. For most flight I just don't use the trim. Haven't tried flaps yet as that is a little farther down the list in my test cards. Still grinnin! Ten takeoffs is just a drop in the bucke t. You will find that using flaps are like no other plane you ever flew. Hang on the the Y stick as you deploy flaps as it will try to yank it o ut of your hand. I understand about the weather as we have similar stuff here in Jackson Hole. My suggestion is to do what you started, take bab y steps and gain experience, keep power on all through the landing phase and don't get slow on short final as the 701/801 will drop out of the s ky pretty darn fast.
