    Michelin Condor Tire 8.00-6 6Ply 120Mph, from Desser I had the same "thumbtack" experience, only not a thumbtack., just a small burr in the grass strip :)

    Yeh those Carlisle tires are only suitable for smooth turf. They're about as thin as condoms..... Their only good point is that they're very light. Any real bush use will soon get a flat, and when flat they really do collapse to nothing, and cause a lot of drag on that side. I've seen that send a 701 into a ground loop off the strip and into the rough.... Much better are McCreary AirHawks 6.00x6 They're the same rolling diameter but much thicker rubber and sturdier. But heavier of course...... Look in Aircraft Spruce. Don't really need the supposedly 'leak proof' tubes, they're even more weight and expensive.... JG

    May 21, 2011 at Kern Valley Airport L05 in the Southern Sierras. Bring your fishing and camping gear. The Kern River is only 100YDS from the Airport Camp Grounds. Hiking, Lake Fishing, River Fishing, River Rafting, and more, just take your pick.
