Oil door latch installation procedure?

      I can't figure out how to install the Dzus fastener for my oil door.
      
      The Zenith manual skips over this step.
      
      My guess is to match drill a large hole to fit the wing nut part and then
      rivet the "S" shaped piece underneath on the door frame.
      
      The question then becomes how the wing-nut part is retained when the door is
      opened. It seems like the fastener would just fall out with an open door.

      Spruce has some little spring rings that will hold them in aluminum, but some people
      use little o rings in the top groove ....Fred
