The "S" spring is held in place with rivets.- I'm not sure what Zenith in tends for you to do with it but I used AN426-AD-3-X rivets.- The -3 being 3/32 and the "X" being what ever length you need. - As for the wingnut portion, I wasn't happy with the factory retention clip systems so I use a gasket makers punch to make a small disk of aluminum.- I then drilled out a centre hole just big enough to fit in the retention g roove of the wingnut shaft.- A slit from the outer edge to the center hol e allowd me to flex the disk enough to get it on.- So far the two fastene rs I did this way are working great. - Just to forwarn you, if you have to order any Dzus parts in from say Spruce or Wicks you might want to get some help from somone who understands the D zus-numbering system.- It is pretty nasty. Received: Sunday, April 10, 2011, 11:53 PM I can't figure out how to install the Dzus fastener for my oil door. The Zenith manual skips over this step. My guess is to match drill a large hole to fit the wing nut part and then r ivet the "S" shaped piece underneath on the door frame. The question then becomes how the wing-nut part is retained when the door i s opened. It seems like the fastener would just fall out with an open door. - Thanks, John Marzulli http://MarzulliPhoto.net/ http://701Builder.blogspot.com/ =0A=0A

Hi John, The dzus stud is retained by a plastic washer. The washer captures the reduced neck and can be bought or made from milk jug material. See link, http://www.macsmachine.com/images/cowling/full/Dzustools.gif My cowling page shows an oil door with Dzus and hinge components.
