Hi Everyone, Things are going very well with the Zeniths to Oshkosh campaign. Almost too well! So I'm writing to give you some more information. So far, we have pre-sold about 60 tickets to the Zenith banquet honoring Chris. The reason I am writing is because in about a week, I will be putting a press release out to the media that will include information on the banquet. I want to make sure that each and every builder and enthusiast on this list that will be coming to Oshkosh has a ticket before they are sold out. We have room for a very comfortable 200, but we can stretch it to 250 if needed. The factory will have about 75 tickets to distribute for Monday's EAA, but I have a feeling those will go very fast! Please let me know if you would like tickets. You can send me a check for $20 per person and a self addressed envelope and I will be shipping out the tickets in about 2 weeks. We are up to 30 showplanes so far! Also, I have a 2011 NOTAM for Oshkosh that I can E-mail to you if you need it. For you folks flying in and would like to park in the Zenith Showplane Parking, I will have special instructions for you in about 3 weeks. This is going to be one hell of a party! See you in Oshkosh. Today was the first day I have been able to fly in about three weeks. A couple of weeks ago somone suggested playing with the flapperon angles might have an interesting effect of the speed. I found my missing five MPH today that I didn't get when I added the streamlined strut covers.I have the SPAL electric actuator and the electronic controller for my flapperons so I was able to adjust their position without turning a wrench. Once I was leveled off and seeing my typical 78-80 mph cruise, I tapped my flapperon controller to put in just a little bit of flapperon. I could feel the nose drop noticably and the plane immediately jumped up to 85 MPH cruise. I tweaked and adjusted the position up and down during the rest of the flight but was unable to get anything better than a consistant 85. 85 is awesome, that's exactly where I'd hoped to be. Congrats Doug Do you have electric elevator trim to try next? Possibly a blend of both flap and elevator, (keep the flap setting you found, adjust the elevator)?...Don B -------- Zenith 701 #76120 Jabiru 2200A #2456 67 hours Sensenich Wood 64-PJ-36 Prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=342544#342544

    Subject: Oil sensor
I recently have had oil pressure readings on my 912S that are on the low end of the safe zone. Thru this and the Rotax list, I was advised to order a new sensor since they have a tendency to fail over time. I ordered a new VDO sensor from Aircraft Spruce and installed the new sensor when it arrived. I started the engine and wham the gauge pegs out on the high end. I shut down after a minute or two as I thought maybe the reading would drop back down. No such luck. I was thinking to myself, how could I screw up a simple swap and replace. Based on info from the Rotax list, I then proceeded to check the sensors individually by using an OHM meter and hitting the sensor with air pressure. Sure enough my old sensor was reading about half the value it should. I then checked the new sensor and just like the gauge in the airplane, it pegged the meter. Both tests were done at 80 psi. The packaging by Aircraft Spruce for the sensor was one of the flat rate boxes from the post office for $5 and their was minimal cushioning (maybe a dozen starch pellets). It seems that since these sensor die over time due to vibration, the packaging could be better for shipping. Anyway I will call customer service tomorrow and see about getting a replacement sensor. Has anyone else had this problem? Dan Wilde 701

Dan, We had the same problem with our 912s. Both of them developed a low oil pressure reading. If I remember correctly, the pressure was down in the 20's during flight. We hooked up an old oil pressure gauge with an oil line running to the cockpit and found the pressure was actually correct. The problem was in the sending unit. It seems the Rotax 912 vibration shortens the life of the sending unit. Many are now mounting the sending unit remotely so that the engine vibration doesn't affect it. I think Kitfox has a kit to do this. Also Lockwood in Sebring FL can probably help. It is just a rubber hydraulic line lets you mount the sending unit away from the engine. Plus, the VDO gauge from ACS is just as good as the one from Rotax and much less cost. Good luck, Tommy Walker in Alabama Do Not Archive --> <stolpilot.wilde@gmail.com> I recently have had oil pressure readings on my 912S that are on the low end of the safe zone. Dan, I recently had the same problem with my sensor. Which one did you order, the 0-100 or 0-150 PSI sensor? What do you have for a gauge? As near as I can tell the gauge is fine because it gave a similar reading to my Ohm meter. I will see what Aircraft Spruce says tomorrow. Of course by the time I found out the sensor was bad, Aircraft Spruce customer relations department had closed. Dan
