From: John Marzulli Today I noticed a VERY slow leak\drip coming from the fuel sampler fitting in my wing. After cleaning the area with a cloth and examining it, it looks like the drip is coming from the sampler's hole. I checked the tightness of the fitting and it is secure. Furthermore I pulled on the fitting to make sure that it was fully down and not stuck slightly up/ Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution short of draining my fuel and replacing the fitting? Thanks, John Marzulli http://MarzulliPhoto.net/ http://701Builder.blogspot.com/ ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 03:56:02 AM PST US Subject: Zenith701801-List: Re:Small drip from pilot side fuel sampler. From: ruruny@aol.com John, Theres an O ring in there that probably is damaged, has dirt or a small fla ke of aluminum keeping it from sealing properly. I had to remove one early on that was leaking and just cleaning i t was all it needed. I have lexan windows and the auto fuel(ethanol) from that drain gets into the rivets there and c auses it to crack. This happens when someone slams the door up to the wing to get it to attach. Anyway don't let it go a nd damage those nice bubble doors. John, I had the same thing. It is the O ring that seals the fuel sampler. I drained the tank and removed the fitting and replaced the O ring. Make sure that the O ring is compatable to the fuel that you use. Bob Spudis N701ZX/912S In a message dated 8/8/2011 3:22:10 A.M. From: John Swartout The "Hints for Homebuilders" guys (EAA website) Dick and Bob Koehler said at a workshop at Airventure that those sampler valve seals are not serviceable. Cost to replace, around $10. From: Tommy Walker John, You might want to lay in a supply of those o-rings. Happened on both 701s I built. They came with a black "O"ring and did not last 6 months. I had to also replace a side window cause I left the door up and fuel drained on the window and caused crazing. The ACS part # is 05-01865 and it is called Saf-Air Drain Valve CAV-110. It should have a blue "O"ring. I have not had to replace any of these valves once I installed the ones with the blue "O" ring.
