Hey Guys What is the thinking with regard to why the black O-ring fails, and the blue one works? Is this possibly an issue with alcohol in the fuel that is deteriorating the black O-rings? Ken, I suggest that you either make a new skin from scratch or order a new one from Zenith.- If you use some other method to deal with the cracks, i t will bug you throughout the rest of the build.=0A-=0AOne other thing, i f this is a 99 vintage kit, make sure you get a copy of the latest plans as there have been several changes in that time frame.- I'm not sure if- the '99 kit would be the SP model or not.- If it's not, it would be well worth your while to upgrade it to SP-while you build.=0A-=0ADoug MacDon ald=0ACH-701=0ANW Ontario, Canada=0A-=0ADo Not Archive=0A=0AFrom: Ken Lyo ns <ninjaneer451@gmail.com>=0ATo: zenith701801-list@matronics.com=0ASent: S unday, August 7, 2011 7:18:51 PM=0ASubject: Zenith701801-List: Intro and qu estion=0A=0A=0AHi All,=0A=0AMy name is Ken Lyons and I bought a CH701 kit i n early 1999. About that time my son joined Boy Scouts and I became involve d, with the result that I have been unable to make progress on the kit. For most of this time I have followed the list, but have had no questions, and have had little to contribute. =0A=0ANow, I am now out of that activity an d am starting up on the kit. I have just completed the rudder skeleton and am starting on the skins. I was pretty dismayed when I unwrapped the traili ng skin and found two wrinkles, one with a crack, which I am pretty sure ha ppened when I was transporting the skin from my place in the Spokane area t o where I am working in Santa Rosa, CA. =0A=0A=0AKen

The black ones are probably neoprene which will be degraded by alcohol in the fuel and the blue ones are probably silicone which is impervious to the fuel. I need to buy some all-fuel compatible O-rings for my mechanical fuel pump and my primer. Anybody got a good source for fluorosilicone (or similar) O-rings that sells in small quantities?
