I've just flown off the 40 hr Phase I on my Hirth F-30 powered 701. Has plenty
of power. Mixing fuel is some hassle, and fuel burn is higher than I would like,
but I got it cheap. The 8-12k More I would have to pay for the Rotax 912
would buy a lot of fuel. I do have some apprehension about flying a 2 stroke
with all the stories I've heard.

I've put about 80 landings in in the first 40 hours. The nose gear has loosened
up some, but still does not self center. I put a small pointer below the door
with a wire tie on the cable to find center. I've noticed the problem with
the nosewheel coming down in a turned position. The inside of the fork has some
rub marks to attest to the qwerk. Noting has bent. My plane needs power
to keep the gearbox on the Hirth from chattering. The Hirth is a good deal lighter
than the Rotax, so that may make it easier. On wet grass I have to use
a brake to turn well.
