Subject: | 912 and 701 oil pump connections |
i am having a problem plumbing the oil cooler outlet to the inlet to the pump..
a 912 in a 701. it is a suction line. and the pipe and fittings are not working.
plane has been flying for 11 years and 500hrs.. i have replaced this hose
several times.. the fitting into the pump is a hose barb with what appears to
be a 12mm 16 tpi fitting.. from there the shortest amount of hardware takes
me 2" past the outlet of oil cooler.. the hoses have to return 2" and down 4"
to get back to oil cooler. this line is under stress and wants to kink off oil
flow.. i was just wondering what others are doing at this point. i think instead
of 2 hose barbs back to back into an up size adapter into 1/2 x 90deg elbow
down into 1/2hose barb, short hose to inlet barb on cooler... does not fit well
and is a lot parts to get a short distance.. if i could find a fitting to
go into pump that could in shorter space be adapted into standard pipe fitting
would be better.. pictures would be appreciated.

Ross, I think I understand what you are looking for.- With my engine ther
e is a 90 deg elbow fitting that goes onto the outlet of the pump that line
s up perfectly with my oil cooler.- The piece of hose I use is about two
inches long and has no stress on it.- My understanding is the elbow fitti
ng-was part of the older bed style firewall forward kit from Zenith.- I
don't know where the one on my engine came from because it was on the engi
ne when I bought it used.- The engine was originally installed on a 701 t
hough, '99 vintage I believe.=0A-=0AHope this helps a bit.=0A-=0ADoug M
