I took the slats off my 701 and installed VGs three years ago and never looked
back. I love them. The position of my trim tab did not change so that tells me
the CG did not change any significant amount. The plane takes off easier, lands
easier and may have gained a few miles per hour at the same throttle setting.
Does the plane get as much attention without the slats, no, but that isn't
why I fly.
If you own a 701 and haven't tried VGs please do not knock them.
When I read various forums and someone says I don't own one and have never tried
it but this is my opinion, it makes the forums less useful.
