I don't consider my 701 to reliably gravity feed even in level flight at cruise power due to the flow tests I've done. Much less at takeoff power and climb attitude. But it will be more likely to gravity feed than a low wing with a failed engine driven pump. No way I take off in mine without the electric pump operating. What's the upside? ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 06:32:40 AM PST US From: oldjagman@yahoo.com Subject: Zenith701801-List: Re: 701 fuel pump As you say, a choice of the PIC. However, if I felt my aircraft, couldn't RELIABLY deliver the fuel required f or level flight, I'd be ripping into the fuel system wanting to know why.... .. Things, I'd look at would be : blocked filters, Restricted fuel lines (dents, or kinks) the number of 90 degree bends, the "ID" of the fuel lines. I would remove / replace / re-do / change, anything suspect! I would ground the aircraft, until I was sure the fuel delivery was reliable , all by itself. Imagine the cost of having an electrical loss.... On takeoff, at say 75 - 100 feet, at a high angle of attack........ and no p ower... Call me a cheap worry wart... But I have put too much money, time, and energ y, into my life, and into the build, To even risk that scenario.... PLUS.... I don't want to be fodder for the Anti GA group.p Sent from my iPad On Jan 21, 2013, at 18:42, "Roger" wrote: > I don't have a problem with it right now .. but my gf is shorter and it wa s a challenge for her in the other Sonex I had.
