Subject: | Re: Torque Wrench |
Perry, Princess auto has a very nice 1/4" drive vernier torque wrench for a
reasonable price.- =0A=0Ahttp://www.princessauto.com/pal/en/Torque-Wrenc
hes/1-4-in-dr-Click-Type-Torque-Wrench/2922045.p=0A=0AThe problem with the
vernier style torque wrench is you are supposed to calibrate them before us
ing them in aviation.- The el-cheapo bending arm style wrench has the adv
antage of being cheaper than the vernier style and they do not need calibra
tion.- Unfortunately, Canadian Tire, Princess Auto nor Acklands list 1/4"
inch lb beam type torque wrenches on their web sites.- =0A=0AAs for the
edge distance from a bend, it is generally the same as from the actual edge
of the piece.- Realistically, however, it is often difficult to maintain
the edge distance from both a bend and an actual edge.- If you have to c
hoose which edge to cheat against, go with the bend as the material will be
stronger.=0A=0AHope this helps=0A=0ADoug M=0ANW Ontario, Canada=0A=0A=0A

I have been well satisfied with the beam-type wrenches from Park. The
TW-1 is sized for 0-60 in-lbs (fine for AN3's); the TW-2 is sized for
0-600 in-lbs. Not cheap, but good, see, e.g.,

Perry,
I'm building a 750.
I bought this one from this company. I was very happy with the cost and
their customer service.
I did have to buy a ratcheting device separately.
