As of my last post I was going to send and email to Caleb at Zenith. Unfortunately he did not have any advice on how to resolve the problem. However, a friend who works for a company here in Vacouver that rebuilds jet engines for the USAF and commercial airlines, and had dropped by for a coffee on Sat morning did. To get the bolt in we removed 5 rivets outboard of rib #4 and 4 inboard, along the spar, as well as the angle that holds the doubler. Maybe 25 rivets. That left enough slack (for lack of a better term) in the nose skin to lift it and get the bolt in. touched up the zinc chromate and I'm ready to put the rivets back in. The method I used for removing the rivets was drill off the head with #30 drill (same as for original hole) and then pop the rivet out with a Starrett automatic punch. Taking the rivets out is as easy as putting them in. No damage to skin or hole.
