The serial number ended with "YR". If you look that up in Underground Corvair's book, the engine is identified as a 145 CI turbo charged engine that was hooked up to a 4 speed transmission (1960 - 62). I'm not an authority, but William Wynne lists the 145 as not suitable for an aero-conversion. I decided not to pursue it based on that. I told the seller why and he responded that GM never manufactured a 145 CI motor. Anyway $500 seems like a lot; maybe it runs though already. They n eed to be rebuilt and fit within the numbers as defined by William Wynne. I am asking $300.00 each and they are dis-assembled ready to ship. Each of t hese engines-can be made into aircraft engines. I would like to sell both of them to the same buyer. If interested please contact me via email. - KM Heide - --- On Sun, 1/11/09, SockPuppet61 wrote: From: SockPuppet61 Subject: Zenith750-List: Re: Corvair engines in Texas I contacted the seller about this engine and asked him to send the serial number. However I'm doing some engine stuff first -- I'm putting off starting the airframe for the moment for various reasons, some of which have to do with working space considerations. I am certainly 'hot to trot' Dave Houston 'pre-750' [b][/quote] Dave, I got a response for a potential engine/engines from a guy in Seguin. I can email you the contact info offline?
