Define cruise. The 701 can cruise at 100 if you want to push it to high cruise numbers. As for the differences between the two, horsepower is only one part of the equation. As was mentioned, some streamlining was done. And what kind of prop will an O-200 swing that you wouldn't see on a Rotax? What effect would that have? Is the thrust of an O-200 at 75%, swinging a different prop, different than that of a Rotax at 75%? I don't have all those answers, but it's more than a simple matter of horsepower. And the 750 won't cruise at 100 MPH if you are set up for STOL. As the article mentioned, the higher numbers were achieved with the two blade Sensenich prop rather than the three blade Warp Drive that is currently installed. From the impression Roger gave me, the Sensenich was more of a cruise prop. With the Warp Drive installed we cruised generally between 93 and 99 MPH when I was there, so I'd expect something in between as an average. -------- Bob Simmons CH 750!!! -The dyno test I have read say the O-200 puts out 79 HP max. When we see a 750 fly with the Rotax we can compare. My neighbor is going with the 914 in his 750 and I will use the corvair. =0A=0A=0A
