I checked the fuel flow at a 15 degree nose high attitude. The last 3 gallons drained in 11.75 minutes or a rate of 15.3 GPH. I have markings on the jury struts that are level with the horizon at 15 degrees nose high. The problem I had was making a nose low descent into a controlled airport trying to keep up with other traffic. The engine quite. As I was flaring to land off airport the engine caught. After landing back at the airport I checked and had 5 gallons of fuel. So I did a test; in a 6 degree nose low attitude there was 5.2 gallons unusable in the 24 gallon tanks. I added a 0.8 gallon header tank behind the pilots head to fix the problem. Many certified high wing airplanes have fuel drains at the front and rear of the tanks. Having a left/right/both/off fuel selector valve is helpful because you can choose the fuller tank to land with, But the header tank solution is the best solution, something I've had on my to-do list for a long time.
