Subject: Interchangeable Tail Skit/Tailwheel - No Tools Required... Description: My twisted Rube Goldberg mind has done it again. I wanted to try to stay true to the original plans showing the tail skid, but reality dictates the need for a tail wheel in many circumstances. Here you see the basic plans tailwheel fork assembly with the big coil spring, but with what I call a "receptor plate". This plate has a stubby 1/4" diameter steel pin protruding from the top of the plate. It's purpose is to act as a "keeper" when either the skid plate or tailwheel is slid onto it. The "snap" spring slides up over and onto this pin to hold either of them onto the receptor plate. No tools are required to install or remove. Simply pick up the end of the snap spring and slide off.
