Subject: CJ-6A Cockpit Description: Here are a couple of shots of the cockpits of my CJ-6A after restoration. The interior is 99% complete. *Everything* was removed from the cockpits and the old paint (multiple layers) was striped down to bare metal. The blue color is the same color used by the Soviets on many of their tactical and some transport aircraft until the mid 1970's. It supposedly promotes a greater sense of awareness, at least according to their psychologists. Many of the original instruments were either re-faced or replaced with U.S. instrumentation. The electrical system was also completely re-engineered to provide multiple busses and essential power redundancy in the event of a generator failure or other fault in the system. The seat cushions are for ground use, they will be replaced with parachutes when the aircraft is ready for flight. The aircraft goes to the paint shop in late January.
