Subject:   Construction Photos of NX799DB
Description:

These photos show various points of interest of my project. I'm trying to capture a very vintage "thirties" feel with this plane.

DCP00623.jpg My Model A motor, ready for the test stand, awaiting prop and carb.
DCP00624.jpg Instrument panel, very thirties. Special "Pietenpol" white face instruments. Electric tach runs off mag, no drive cable.
DCP00625.jpg Front cockpit "glove box" cover. will have compass and passenger warning.
DCP00626.jpg I modified the seat to allow a curvature. fashioned two tubes that bolt on the cross members, then fashioned a custom fit seat from e-glass. Clears elevator cables by one inch. boxed in two storage boxes under seat. The square of aluminum is my footstep with a spring door. This seat arrangement is more comfy and drops me about two inches, thus allowing the shoulder harness angle to be okay, and a smaller windscreen.
DCP00628.jpg Shoulder harness comes out as high as i could. It is supported by a tubular structure and attached via cable to the tail skid.
DCP00629.jpg True old fashioned high pressure clincher tires.
DCP00630.jpg Filled every available inch in the center section with a very oddly shaped aluminum fuel tank. Two sumps and outlets. My fuel gauge is incorporated in the rear sump. Tank holds twelve and three-quarter gallons. If I had to do it again, I'd use very light stainless and I think I could squeeze almost another gallon in there, but don't have the heart to start over. I call it "Frankenstein", thank God it gets covered up!!
