Subject: Tie Down Lock - Control Stick Description: I didn't like tieing down the control stick with seat belts so I devised this "Spider". Simple to make. A piece of PVC pipe and a cap, four key rings, two (or three) ratchet straps, four hooks, and a hose clamp. You can eliminate the key rings by attaching the straps directly to the hose clamp. If you do use the key rings, you have to cut a grove into the PVC pipe so that the rings will stand out straight - otherwise they'll flop to the side. I use ratchet straps with adjustments on two sides only and just cinch it down tight. In that way, the elevator is neutral. But you can make the "Spider" with adjustments on three sides (One on the side and two fore and aft) which will allow you to adjust the stick so that the elevators will be up or down. Once cinched down the control stick feels like it is "welded" in place - it won't move. However, the control surfaces still move a bit due to the play in the cables and such. But it sure is a lot better than just using seat belts.
