Subject: "Tie Up" Straps Description: This is the way I take the weight off of the wing hold tubes.
HPIM0800.jpg The complete hookup. A strap goes to each of the strut end fittings. Then another ratcheting strap is attached to this one and the other end to a "U" joint fastened to the top of the trailer. (I use an assortment of hardware items to hook the straps.) HPIM0801.jpg Straps are attached to the strut end fittings using the same clevis pins you use to attach the struts. HPIM0802.jpg My trailer is very narrow. I had to figure out a way to recover the strap. I attach the strap to the strut end fittings just before I fold the wings. Then I use a piece of cord to temporarily hook the rig to the prop. Once the MK III is in place in the trailer, I unhook the cord from the prop and "walk" it back to where I hook it to the "U" joint in the ceiling. Then I ratched up enough to take up some, not all, of the weight of the wings. I do NOT lift it off of the floor. HPIM0806.jpg The hardware items I use.
