Subject:   Possible Harness Re-Routing On Europa
Description:   

Possible re-routing of harness reducing likelihood of spinal compression compared to existing harness route and location over the shoulders.

There is a debate on the Europa Forum highlighting the proven awful spinal compression consequences of the existing Europa Harness attachment points in more than one accident/ incident. These photos are of the existing BMW head rests in G-PTAG and a possible suggestion of harness re- routing to reduce the injury possibilities. These ideas are purely schematic and have not been calculated or proven. If calculated satisfactory, some restraint will be required to retain the harness on the head rest.

Attached are photos of my existing and suggested options:-

  • a) 3364 Existing BMW adjustable height head rest assembly in G-PTAG.(starboard side)

  • b) 3362 View from front starboard side of P2 Position of re-routed harness. (note the provisional spacer showing how the head rest could be prevented from telescoping down.)

  • c) 3363 View from rear starboard side of P2 Position of re-routed harness. (see the crude spacer needed on both sides to prevent head rest telescoping down.)

  • d) 3365 View of the existing inside of the starboard Europa HEAD REST showing the BMW adjustment slide fixing tubes
