Subject: Xtra rear fuselage enclosure Description: Xtra rear fuselage enclosure
airplane_003.jpg Inside view of rear enclosure. Custom dual 8 gal fuel tanks. Note custom Rochester spiral sealed fuel gauge on R tank. I will be able to look over my shoulder through the Lexan to see gauge. Since both tanks will feed to a gascolator, it will show levels in both. airplane_004.jpg Another view, note blue vents on top. When tubing is attached, it will exit below the fuselage so no fuel will leak out in case of inverted position. airplane_005.jpg Outside view of L rear enclosure. With apologies to Uncle Craig, I bought a joggle tool and made the fuel door reinforcement plate. The fuel door is supplied with a Hartwell latch. The rear window also has a joggled plate support. It has 3 segments of piano hinges on the top and is shut with 2 camlocks. Presently I have the phillips type camlocks, but I may change to winged ones if I can get them to line up with the airstream. The metal is 0.32 except for the fuel doors which are 0.50. airplane_006.jpg Shows the fuel door open with the Hartwell latch. airplane_007.jpg Custom seats, note padded armrest in center. airplane_008.jpg Weather stripping along Lexan above doors. airplane_009.jpg R upper enclosure with fuel door. I have installed the Lexan window with camlocks for easy removal for access or storage.
