As mentioned above, after using AirFlow apertures to balance the cylinders my IO540 runs smoothly at any LOP mixture, all the way down to zero power/no fuel. I didn’t mention, this is with a pair of ...

Kelly,
I think you may have dropped a zero, e.g., went to 0.0005" smaller (5 ten-thousandths).

Once you get all cylinders peaking at the same time, the smoothness on the lean side of peak is ...

The Swift fuels 94UL avgas should be just fine in an
IO540, but good luck finding it much over 300 miles from their plant in
Indiana.

94UL is now available at KRHV (San Jose, CA)

I built a center arm rest out of some spare foam, covered it with left over cloth from the interior side walls. Mounted a plastic fold-up cup holder from Amazon (3 for $10 if I recall) to the forward ...

IMHO you need to be prepared to fly several different configurations/speeds. I’ve flown into major airports where I was mixed with jet traffic, and ATC asked for ‘best possible speed’. OTOH that ...

As several posts have said, 122/96/87 kias are the posted speeds in the documentation of older -10’s. However, not too long ago Vans removed the restriction on ‘in trail’ (0 deg). The limiting f ...

That is correct...the “whole package” (2 x Servos, 1 x GMC Controller and 1 x G5 EFIS) come out to right around $4K.

Cheers,
Stein

For less than $4K, you can get a Trio Pro complete wit ...

I too had an oily liquid run out from a grease gun with Aeroshell 6 on a warm summer day. I cannot recall if I had stored it with the spring pulled back, or not. I did note that you can mix Aeroshell ...

Be a little careful here. Remember when you adjusted the aileron linkages, you had to lock the elevator in neutral? If you try to tie the stick full aft with a rope or seatbelt, the ailerons will want ...

Thank you, Vol88, for reminding me of the actual instructions. Note the arrow doesn't have to point exactly down: anywhere within a 180 deg of arc of "not up" will suffice to minimize fuel ...

It’s Bernoulii’s principle, just like on top of the wing. There’s also an accessory wand for an air compressor, with a right angle port. Hook up vinyl tubing, it will suck liquid de-greaser and ...

The heat range spec is a measure of the plug’s thermal conductivity, tip to body. Too cold, deposits won’t burn off. Too hot risks pre-ignition. (Never run hotter than max allowed). Dave, if you c ...

I’m guessing that sitting dry (as in ...

Yes it is a tight fit. Because of the small clearance behind the spinner, you must keep the cowl near level while you raise it vertically. Working solo I use a couple of 2x4’s, supported by stools, ...
