Recently there was some discussion as to how to announce a Zenith CH701 to a controller. I went to the ICAO website and this is what I found for the CH701.

I didn't see the previous discussion, but as a current tower air traffic controller, I want to hear "...Experimental Zenair [callsign]..." on initial contact. If I need further clarification on what you are, I'd want you to compare it to something I know performance-wise, like "similar to a piper cub".

This helps us plan when it comes to pattern entry and spacing/sequencing to the runway. A Lancair and a CH701 are both experimentals, but I'm going to work them very differently.

When it comes to flight plan filing, HXA/[equipment code] should be used (for the 701 at least) as the type aircraft/equimpent suffix. In the remarks you might optionally indicate typ a/c Zenair CH701.
