Here in the UK most display yaks run with one of two:

Marcol
or
Ondina

Shell Ondina is in my tank. It’s the base oil used in pharmacy (a bit like “baby oil”).
Thin, clear, (good for your skin apparently!), environmentally friendly, odourless, and edible.

Meaning it’s cockpit breathable with no nasty side effects……

Also produces thick WHITE (not the faintest hint of a brown) smoke.

Has anyone tried used automatic transmission fluid? Is it good or bad? I have a auto repair shop with lots of used fluid.

Actually I have breathed a blend of O2 and nitrous oxide. I recommend it big time! Particularly if you starting to pass a kidney stone at the Gatwidk airport immigration booth. A couple whiffs of that stuff and the world is just plain beautiful. The ambulance ride to Surrey Sussex hospital was like an carnival ride with me enjoying every minute. NO PAIN.

John that's a great idea about having it in my CJ. I think I could use a hose I seen sold at ACE. Doc, where can I get that stuff?? ;-}

MSDS sheets are available on all of these alternatives including Pappy's Mobil One synthetic 10W that is recycled. Know the handling and toxicity of any product that you use. If you need one, an MSDS sheet, let me know.

Etienne provided some great (Fabulous) smoke shots which many of you can relate to the ingestion of the oil you are burning. Then again Pappy has probably plumbed that Chinese leather mask with an independent supply of O2 or nitrous oxide blended gas.

Vegetable, Mineral or Synthetic they all get the job done with differing toxicity to the pilot.

What the hell is double malt?  Good scotch is single malt C the others are blends.  I know the air force is full of chardonnay drinkers C but I'd expect better of the navy.
