Hello KIS family!

I have preserved the IO-240 engine on my KIS, and left it on its own in the hangar for the next 6 months.  This is the fist time away for such long time since I got the kit back in 1993.  More than 20 years ago when I do the maths! And 13 years since fist flight in 2000.

For the next 6 months I will not live in Norway, but will live in Los Altos, California (near San Francisco).
I don't know if there are anyone building or flying a KIS in this area?

It would be nice to get in contact with other KIS family members while I am here.
If you are in the area++, please contact me by reply to the list or by reply to hans.erstad(at)gmail.com (hans.erstad(at)gmail.com).

It would be great to get in contact  to discuss building or flying the KIS.
Best Regards, Hans Christian, TR-1 #32, LN-KIS

I am down in Camarillo, CA about 1 hour north of los angeles. If you are in the area I would love to show you my IO-360 powered half carbon fiber TR-1C and the all carbon fiber TR-4 project. The drive down the coast of central california (Highway 1/Big Sur) is a must do while you are here.

Galin,

What the heck, this sounds like a fully justifiable excuse for making a West Coast trip in your plane. That would obviously mean a couple day layover in Dallas going and coming too.

Any personal reasons for encouraging such a trip on my part has zero to do with my living in Dallas. However.....since you are going to be here anyway......

Hans,

I agree with you on the BMW being perfect for Highway 1 but must caution you to keep your eyes on the road. That is one beautiful drive and it is so very tempting to view the scenery while the road constantly changes direction. That is a very challenging drive but the reward is worth the effort. Have fun and stay safe.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bob Reed

PS: My caution stems from having a good friend who took that exact trip in his Harley a few years back. He glanced away from the road as he approached a curve and before he realized it he was in a bit of loose gravel and couldn’t make the turn or stop. He laid the bike down and ended up with a broken collar bone and broken leg. The worst part was he hurt the bike too.

Where in north Florida?  I live in Venice (near Sarasota).  I recently saw your YouTube video of you and Bob Reed flying around.  Maybe it would be possible to get a demonstration ride since I never flew in a KIS.
