I forgot to mention that I got the idea for Spitfire type fairings from the (old) Glasair factory.
Remember when Bob Gavinsky was flying around in the twin turbo Glasair III? (That was right after Lancair had brought out the Lancair iV.)
Well, Bob hit a wall at some speed, where more power didn't make any difference. I spoke over the phone with one of the factory guys (not Cliff), who said it was due to the poor wing root/fuselage junction and that they thought a long, rounded fairing was needed to kill the drag.
So I'm back to being confused as to why Jeff LaVelle isn't having the same issue with a drag wall on his Reno winning racer.
Maybe he's done something really subtle back there?
