Galen (or anyone with a TR-4),
Would you mind measuring the difference in degrees between your flaps in the up position and full down position? I am looking for the degrees of deflection for setting my full flaps.
If you don’t have a handy tool already, you can download a BubbleLevel app for your cell phone that is very accurate.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I will try. We need to do that anyway; it seems our full down position must be close to 40 degrees. We are thinking about adding a mid position as full down seems to be too much; it gets squirrelly close to ground effect.Glenn Meyers

Glenn

I have electric flaps with a 12,24,36 degree stop. Rarely ever use the 36 full settings.

That's sounds about right based on what Galin said. Ours are manual. I
think we need to add the center notch. First notch is a little light and
full seems a bit much.

FWIW, I always take off with zero flaps. Once you have flown some hours on yours, you will find what works best for you.

BTW, I also have manual flaps very similar to a Piper Cherokee.

Perfect info. Thanks everybody.
I sent my engine out to be rebuilt (basically sat for 7-8-years) and should get it back by Christmas. Finishing up rebuilding the doors. Next is rigging the flight controls (hence the questions). I hope to be flying by late spring!  Check out the KIS FaceBook page for pics and status.

The few times I have taken off from grass, I also used 1 notch (12 degrees) of flaps to get into ground effect quicker.

That has to be done by MATRONICS. Nobody on this list can do that.

That's sounds about right based on what Galin said. Ours are manual. I think we need to add the center notch. First notch is a little light and full seems a bit much.

I have electric flaps with a 12,24,36 degree stop. Rarely ever use the 36 full settings.

I will try. We need to do that anyway; it seems our full down position must be close to 40 degrees. We are thinking about adding a mid position as full down seems to be too much; it gets squirrelly close to ground effect.Glenn Meyers
