Hello subscribers,
Today we were going to get together for a 4 ship formation for the promo
video. Earl Furgeson flew in from Atlanta. Rick's plane has now flown.
Joe Cooper's plane and Linda's plane were scheduled to fly today. Due to
having several little things get done today and other things going wrong I
don't believe they did get to today. Maybe in the morning or on Friday.
Rick's plane is reportedly flying very well with only a slight rigging issue
to be addressed and an out of balance spinner to get fixed. The
demonstrator is coming along. It is back from paint and got tailfeathers
done today. I will be using this plane for my drag reduction experiments
and will volunteer my time to see it finished quickly.
As the day progressed with several things to calibrate on Linda's plane the
winds were getting gusty. Wouldn't have made a great day for formation or
vidoe either one. Beautiful day out though. Nine of us went to a local
diner on lunch break to trade war stories and other such things.
Today I flew N17EF, Serial No. 5, Earl's plane for a bit. I'd like ot think
Earl for letting me do that. This is the first ligh sport compliant
Lightning that I had flown and it does fly a little differently. Earl
changed a carb jet out today because he was running too rich at higher
rpm's. Good news is that we got more RPM, a little more speed, and smoother
running engine. Bad news is that Earl and I got into a power struggle in
flight. Just kidding there Earl! All in all the day was good. Joe got to
fly in both EF and BZ and so he has a little experience before jumping in
his own plane. We'll try to get back together in a couple of weeks when we
have some bugs worked out and get some aerial footage. I guess that about
