I found this add for some Corvair engines in Texas. These aren't really the best models for WW conversion, but I thought I would share. They are located somewhere near Waco.

I contacted the seller about this engine and asked him to send the serial number. The serial number ended with "YR".

If you look that up in Underground Corvair's book, the engine is identified as a 145 CI turbo charged engine that was hooked up to a 4 speed transmission (1960 - 62).

I'm not an authority, but William Wynne lists the 145 as not suitable for an aero-conversion.

I decided not to pursue it based on that. I told the seller why and he responded that GM never manufactured a 145 CI motor.

Anyway $500 seems like a lot; maybe it runs though already.

Yes..do not purchase this model number as the cylinder and compression ratio are not sufficient.

I have two Corvair engines that are complete and in very good shape. They need to be rebuilt and fit within the numbers as defined by William Wynne. I am asking $300.00 each and they are dis-assembled ready to ship. Each of these engines can be made into aircraft engines. I would like to sell both of them to the same buyer. If interested please contact me via email.
