|
|
Well my plan to fit the cooler up front seems doomed to failure so It will need to go on the firewall ala Lightning, thing is my battery is already in the way for the pilots side mount.
So, does any one know what length I can make the hoses? To fit my cooler on the other side and they'll be 1.1 metres or 3.6 feet each way, lots of extra cooling but what about the flow business?
Any idea of max length, AN6 fittings and hose and the donut bored out with 1/4 npt fittings?

Clive,
In the long run, I think you would be better off moving the battery to the co-pilot's side (the way Esqual should have designed it to start with - but don't get me started on all the things Esqual should have done differently). By moving the heavy battery to the co-pilot side you now have the heaviest weight on the side of the aircraft that is usually un-occupied (when you fly solo) and by putting the oil cooler on the pilot side the oil cooler lines can be much shorter. That is one key to a successful oil cooling set up. Also where possible avoid 90 degree fittings to the cooler to help with oil flow. 45 degree fittings are better and straight fittings even better, but not always possible. Any way, the extra work at this time will result in a more successful set up. My $.02 worth.

When I was originally conned into buying the Esqual I set it us as close
to the manual as I could as it was to be the UK demonstrator.
There's loads I'd have done differently, the beauty of kitbuilding after
all. I've looked again at the battery move and there is far too much
tied up with it unfortunately.
Good steer on the 45 degree fittings which I'll follow!
Thanks once again Buz
