Has anyone installed the B&C SD8 alternator on the  RV10? I would like to know if there is any problem with the clearance with the  firewall.

I have an SD8 on the accessory pad of my -7A (IO360).  It has lots of room all around and is smaller than any vacuum pump that would live there so it is difficult to imagine that there would be any clearance issues on an (I)O-540.



BTW, I ran the battery down once and had to get a jump start.  In order to increase the charge rate for the battery, I switched on both the SD8 and the main alternator at the same time.  Wasn't sure whether anything was at risk of popping or overloading, but am pleased to report that both alternators happily coexisted and pumped out more amps than either alone.

No clearance problem whatsoever.  Lots of room  installed in place of the vacuum pump on the accessory case.
