 Cristal,

Congratulations on, perhaps, bringing a new Kolber into the world. I agree
it is terrible to be responsible and to give up your plane. Time will fly
by and then you will reach retirement and you can be irresponsible and build
and/or purchase and fly another Kolb. I had to wait until my 60's to even
begin flying a Kolb. At this time I can't remember what it was like to not
have a FireFly. So just hang in there and keep the dream alive.

Thank you for the encouragement Jack (and others who wrote off list).

I still have my private and will continue to fly as much as possible because I love it soooo much! And who knows, maybe after a few years I could build my own Kolb.

Looks like a nice airplane. This isn't the time sell houses or toys. You
will feel you are giving it away. Find a place in the garage and store it.

Cristal- Congratulations and condolences! By the time the economy improves, the baby will be old enough to ride in a forward facing baby seat in your next Kolb.

Glad you have your priorities straight! -- but sorry to hear your
aircraft must go. However! -- there will still be Kolbs around when
you're again ready to have one.
Sincere thanks for your entertaining posts about your flights --
 Fair winds,

Congratulations Crystal, and I agree with Rick. Don't take any less than your asking price unless you really need the money, or really would like to roll your own in a few years. Otherwise put it in storage.

I added to my ad that I only wanted to sell to US buyers (I hope that is ok and legal). I got some emails from someone in Costa Rica, but I don't want to de-register my plane. It took too much work to get that US registration and airworthiness. Know what I mean?

Well I am still paying on the plane. I had to take out extra to get the plane and then fix it up for airworthiness when I got it. If I had somewhere to store it I would consider keeping it. I just pray about it and leave it in God's hands. Haven't had any real nibbles so far.

I'm sure you're smart enough to ignore all the frivilous names
suggested by would-be humorists (like me). I suspect you'll come up
with a very satisfying name well before the birth.
I'm told (but wouldn't swear to it) that Bill Lear wanted to name
his daughter Chanda; has a nice ring to it at that.
His wife said NO! -- but agreed to Chanda being her middle name. But
then Bill made her first name Crystal.
Crystal Chanda Lear -- now, that's distinctive. Poor kid!
 All the best on '10

Husband said, "Are you SURE you want to sell it?" I said, "No! I'm not sure!" He said, "You won't be pregnant forever." That meant I had the green light from him to keep it (and my son had been begging me to keep it). When I went to mom's her preacher preached about being careful not to make permanent decisions for temporary situations, not sure what he was alluding to but I applied to it to my situation.

So Merry Dawn was officially taken off the market yesterday. I'm keeping her!

 Whew.... excellent idea .
You'll hear that right now is a particularly bad time to try to sell an aircraft, but actually, I don't think there's ever going to be a good time to sell one come around again for a very long time. If ever.

Particularly for really high quality planes like the Kolb where they stay together and you can fly them for years and years- the replacement costs are simply skyrocketing and don't show any signs of reversing and coming back down.

It's cheaper to just keep it even if you have to store it for a while - that didn't used to be true but it is now.

Unless it's got a problem, is a real mismatch for your mission or you have/want to give up flying, selling kind of doesn't make any sense anymore....
