Does anyone know who supplies the molded plexi for the Cruiser. I have to replace a cracked pilot side window and canactually mold it myself but it's a lot of work.

Hello Al,
Aircraft Windshields phone number is 562-430-8108 and Ruth runs the show there. The cost for the side window is between $400.00 and $500.00 plus shipping from sunny Southern California. This company has been in the aircraft window business for a long time, now on its second generation. They supply windows for many certified aircraft as well as amateur built aircraft. Once a window is molded it is resurfaced so the optics are as good as if there was no window in place, something that would be hard to replicate on your own (but not impossible). TR-4 windows are 3/16" thick. Windows are available in clear, light gray, and light green. The ladder two block 70% of UV light.

Thanks Mark,
That's too much for me to spend for something I can do for the cost of a piece of Plexi and some materials for making the mold and oven.
Actually, my side windows are 1/8"(.125) thick. Only the windshield is 3/16". I can live with slight optical distortion, if there really is any, since it's not the windshield.

Mark,
It looks like you might have access to all of the supplier information to the KIS Line of aircraft. Would it be possible to publish a list or for me to post the list on the website for future reference. I suspect that several builders and flyers would benefit from knowing sources for the parts supplied by outside vendors to TRI-R. Most of us are familiar with Lyle Hendricks and that he supplied some fabricated parts but aren't sure of which parts. I was not awasre of Aircraft Windshields as a supplier.
Thanks,
Bob Reed

Hello Bob Reed, Good idea. Unfortunately some of the early Tri – R hardware was provided by Ken Brock who was killed in an aircraft landing accident when a loose tool box whacked him in the back of the head.
Rich was not entirely happy with all of Brock’s hardware and searched for alternatives. That may have been when Lyle Hendricks first appeared on the scene.
Vance Jaqua was also known to turn out a piece of hardware from time to time. He made the door hinges for my KIS TR-1.

OC,
I know that after this long period of time that many of the sources will have dried up but if we can locate those that are still out there it will make life a bit easier.
Vance also came up with the center stick that I am going to be using.
