Hi
I drilled and taped all mine to 8-32 machine screws which seems to work
fine.

Dave,
That is what I used on my model IV. I used screws about 3/4" long and once
in a while they would back out a thread or two, but I never lost one in 900
hours. After getting tired of tighening them from time to time, I used some
medium thread locker on the screws. No problems then.

Mine look for all the world like the original method of fastening was using
very course sheet metal screws in the tabs in the (poor) cellphone photo. Is
this what everyone uses? It seems to me they'll fall out and end up in
another aircraft's tire.
