Dave, I had one of the "Carports of America" steel buildings put up two
years ago. It has no foundation, it's "nailed" to the Kansas clay with two
foot long spikes. I had the sides extended down to the ground, but left the
ends open. Ends are available in several configurations including a lockable
door. The whole thing went up in less than an afternoon with three
assemblers. So far it has withstood 70+ mph winds the last couple of winters
and none of the overlap joints of the siding (and roof) leak. Creaks a bit
in high winds, but that's about it.
