Picky, picky... but you're both wrong!  It stands for "Water Displacement", 
according to the WD-40 website.

I can attest to that... after dunking my PPG engine in salt water some 
years ago, I drained out the water, put most of a can of WD-40 through it, 
and got it running again.  Without ever disassembling the engine, it now 
has another couple hundred hours on it, and it's still running fine.
