Smokey,
If you happen to have that K&N model number,
you might save me from ordering the wrong one.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
-
- I'm using a K&N cone filter on my Harmon intake w/bypass, 3.5
inch top. Works great with my Skytech starter and clears the cowl with 2"
to
spare. Suprisingly, K&N had compettive prices...

Hey Tom,
Been doing some research on filters.- Your
part number was close but I came up with RB-0910 which is 5 inches high,
and
an RB-0900 which is 4 inches in height.- Do you think the 4 inch high o
ne
would work better, i.e., less contact with cowl and starter?
I also found some cone shapes which are about 5
inches high but have 3 1/2 inch diameter top, perhaps that would work, wh
at do
you think?
I wish my cowl was off so I could take some
measurements.- I just put it back on Sunday after the annual
inspection.

I had a similar set up on my second Harmon. -I used a conical K&N
filter that had a bit of an offset in the attach flange. -Part # RB
091.-- It did touch the starter and I put a big gob of RTV at the
point of contact. -It also tended to touch the cowling but never seem
ed
to cause and damage. -I do not see any reason why you could not squee
ze
a bit to get more clearance.- It is a nice simple
system.

HR guys,
As per John Harmon's
recommendation, I have been using a UNI filter UP-6300 ast motorcycle
filter.- Not only do I not like the looks of the thing but it lays on
the inside of the cowl and has to deform a bit to do that, it also is
wearing where the cuff slides over the Y-valve.- I am using John's
intake Y valve and the angle of the filter side may not be quite
right.- Has anyone had this problem and or have a solution?-
Perhaps going to a K&N filter will do it, any model numbers would help
my search for a solution.
Thanks,
Jim
