I had nothing but trouble with the friction lock style. The 912 carb
springs are so strong that once you set the friction lock the instrument
panel is so thin, on the 701, that it gives enough to raise the rpm about
300 when you let go. I changed to the veneer type, fine adjustment when you
need it and full throttle is just a button push away.
