Because of my long legs, I shortened my instrument panel by about 1 1/4". Note in the picture that the bottom of the instrument panel is flush/level with the bottom of the side rail. Normally, the instrument panel hangs down below the side rail. This was great for adding leg room, but I no longer had any room for the myrid of switches required. I opted for a nifty side-mounted approch that I've actually been very happy with. I'm still wondering just how I will feed that many wires down there, but time will tell. The label was made using a CAD program, printing it out in reverse color, and then laminating it. It looks great for now, and will allow me to make adjustments to wording during the early days. Once everything is pretty well set, I will likely have a piece of aluminum black powercoated, then silkscreened in white. Same for the instrument panel.
