Subject: CJ6 Mysterious Wing Modifications Description: The underside of the right wing has been opened to show the offset fuel tank bay, leaving an 8" space between rib #1 and the fuel tank. The forward spar webbing in this space has been cut out and the hole reinforced with bolted steel framing. What this space was used for is a mystery. The steel framing, however, was insufficient to prevent cracking in the remaining webbing. The webbing is now being replaced.
Perhaps related, the fuel bay covers are made of milled aluminum plates rather than sheet metal.
