Subject: Kolb Tail Dolly Description: Here are a few pictures of the tailboom support dolly that I made for my Mark-III. It is designed to support the folded wings, while making ground manuvering easy. The center tailboom support is made from a two foot long piece of 10-inch-diam PVC pipe, cut in half lengthwise. It is padded with hi-density styrofoam, to protect the boom. The large castor wheels allow me to roll the plane easily over rough surfaces.
DOLLY1.jpg The dolly doubles as the tailboom support while transporting my Kolb on its trailer. The whole assembly rides on an old tire for added shock absorprion while on the trailer. DOLLY2.jpg The wing saddles are similarly made from cut-in-half PVC pipe (5-inch diam), with foam padding. They pivot in the center, to allow an exact fit to the wing leading edges. DOLLY3.jpg The castor wheels have built-in springs, for mild shock absorption. Bought them for $15 each at a surplus store.
