Subject: Lee Cardoza's Four Runner Description: Thanks to Luc Hermange for getting the original photo's scanned for us. The attached photos were taken recently in Cooperstown, North Dakota. Lee Cardoza is the current owner of Calbie Woods' Four Runner.. Like a big 4 place Tailwind. Lee has been working on the cowl for a couple of years, revising the flow of air thru it. The scoops on the sides were part of an experiment and will probably be deleted soon. Lee is very retired and travels quite a bit.....without a computer. I'm encouraging him to attend Baraboo 2004 so we can take rides in a Four Place Tailwind. Power is Lycoming 0-360, Hartzell constant speed, fuel capacity is 50 gallons, wing is built from Sheetmetal, Gross weight is somewhere around 2,000 pounds as I recall. I honestly can't remember the empty weight. At 10,000 ft and Gross weight, it still will climb comfortably at 500 fpm. The windshield is a one piece, molded and tinted unit. Very nice optics.. 4 place stereo intercom too. I owned and flew this airplane for almost a year before selling it to Lee. He has done an outstanding job of rewiring the entire airplane, rebuilding the engine, installed new spinner along with a new cowl. The airplane flies very very good and will cruise for 6 hours if your bladder can take it..... Just fly high...
