| Description: | I finally got out and took photos of the round inlets on my -6A. Also of the sailplane gap tape on my empennage. The speed mods are all minimal but hopefully will add up. The gap tape also warns you and begins to hum at around 210mph! The round inlets were originally done to patch the multiple repairs to the original set-up where several sets of hinges were broken. My design appears to be much more rigid and only slightly harder in removing the lower cowl. I seem to remember using a 4" PVC coupling for a mold. Cooling is more than adequate for the 160hp. I have a valve on the firewall mounted oil cooler. The engine air opening diameter matches the carb and I saw no MP loss. Originally I had the opening within a 1/4" of the prop, but when I was able to make the engine stumble at high angle of attack I sawed it back. Kevin -6A 800+hrs | ||
